We live in a world where deposited having several means of communication, somehow we have the generation which communicates the least. Cell phones are to blame for this to some extent. It does sound astounding that you can be doing something at one corner of the world but be talking to someone on the other corner of the world, right? These new age ideas make it seem like it’s should be more easier to communicate with the ones we love then why is it that it’s becoming more and more difficult for us to communicate? Are cell phones responsible for hurting our relationship-ships? Take a look.
Back in the day it was all about spending quality time with the people that you are with. You would book transportation from a reputable transport company like Phoenix Airport Transportation, you would pick up some flowers for your date, pick up your date and have a wonderful dinner that consisted of meaningful conversations. Now it’s all about distractions. You could be sitting at your Rehearsal Dinner and responding to work emails because how long does it talk? You think it’s just going to be a quick minute but before you know it, you have spent the night away checking meaningless unnecessary notifications on your phone while those you love feel neglected.
It’s as simple as that. When you are in the company of the people that are important to you, make sure that you make them feel like they are important. The only message you’ll send as yoiyou constantly check the notifications on your phone is that you care about them more than the people that you are with. When you are with people you care about, actually be with them. This includes asking questions, being attentive and making eye contact. All the things you otherwise wouldn’t be able to do while being distracted by your phone.
We don’t mean that you should participate in a conversation half heartedly as you are present in the conversation but your mind is elsewhere. No. We mean that you need to be one hundred percent present in the conversation that you are having. If it means that you are going to have to miss some important work calls and answer the emails late then so be it. Talk to the person you are in the company of. Tell them what your day was like, ask them about theirs. Talk about the universe if that’s what you want but just be yourself without any distractions getting in the way of that happening.
It’s easy to only talk about yourself while you are talking to someone, the tough part is making sure they feel that they are also important in the conversation. In order to make that happen you need to be less selfish and ask questions. About the other person’s life, day and experiences. Be genuinely interested so that they feel like they can actually talk to you and hold your attention without having to worry about you opening Facebook because you have outgrown the conversation.
In a world full of distractions, be invincible in the face of those you love.
